About TILDA’S CREATIONS
A journey through artistic expression

BACKGROUND

In 1980 Tilda’s Creations started as home based garment alteration business. As a single parent and motivated to be home while daughters were young, took in basic sewing projects and over flow from local dry cleaners. House cleaning plus baby sitting as a side bar to fill in the financial gaps till a client base was formed.

By 1990 Tilda’s Creations expanded to costume design and construction. Contracts included piece work for designers, private clients, theater companies and most interestingly battle reenactment uniforms dating back to the Civil War. Uniforms have been hired out for extras in several movies and were an integral part of The Battle of Gettysburg 100th anniversary.

In 1997, while attending night school, was hired as an intern at TRI Business and Career Institute. Managed evaluations of personal learning styles for adult in a culturally diverse adult community setting. Passion for working in this community was lit for one could see that many clients lives were greatly improved as a result of the program. It freed them to personalize their specific challenges to fit their learning styles. The majority were visual and multi-sensory learners.

It was during this time that using collage assembly became more than a hobby. After a few years of specialized training in public speaking, bereavement facilitation training and curriculum certification Tilda’s Creations now included teaching English as a second language, conversational Italian, job coaching, stress management and team-building workshops.

Finally, in 2010, Tilda’s Creations  took on a new face and went "green". The use of collage for “dream boards”, “memories restored” and “unexpressed grief” facilitated the quality of life. It gave visual order out of chaos, and provided people with a fresh new way to express and release internal conversations. The collage work shops were now called “Fun-shops”. They are stress management and story telling adventures and remain the main focus of Tilda's Creations.

RECENT FOCUS

Tilda’s Creations  uses collage assembly as the primary tool for self expression.

Recently, “How Green Is Your Valley?” applications included retold children stories:Queens Farm Museum County fair; September 2009,2011 and 2012 and will be attending in 2014.
.
Workshops were presented at The American Legion Ladies Auxiliary annual tea; "The History of the Handkerchief" October 2010 and"Collage for Fun and Relaxation" October 2011.

Projects have been on display at various Libraries/Museums.
Some collage application samples are posted on our Home page.

Tilda’s Creations can adapt the collage concept and provide creative expression to individuals or groups. It can be adapted for recreation or used as a therapeutic tool. It has been particularly helpful in documenting memories for seniors.
